If you’re a fan of cold beer but have gluten issues, we have some great news for you! In the last year, Goldfields Brewery at The Club Hotel has been brewing most of its beers with reduced gluten, while keeping the same taste and quality.
Typically, beer has gluten because it’s made from barley and wheat, which naturally have gluten. However, with some cool new brewing methods, we’ve been using a special enzyme during fermentation that breaks down gluten proteins to a level that’s considered gluten-free in many countries. Because of Australian food labelling regulations, we’ve had to classify them as ‘gluten reduced’ instead of ‘gluten free’.
What are customers saying?
We’ve heard from several coeliac customers who say they can enjoy our gluten-reduced beers without any issues. However, since everyone’s tolerance varies, we always suggest that coeliacs and those with gluten sensitivities check with their health professionals and make choices based on their personal situations.
